Moringa, also called “tree of life” or “Moringa Miracle” originally comes from the foothills of the Himalayas in India. It has been used for centuries in Ayurveda to treat colds, diabetes, high blood pressure or to stimulate the immune system.
It’s a superfood!
But what exactly is a superfood?
It is a very healthy, unprocessed food with high nutritional power. Usually plant-based, superfoods are rich in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. They also contain healthy fats and fiber.
I don't know if you've had the opportunity to watch the Netflix documentary series 'Down to Earth' where Zac Efron travels the globe with Darin Olien to make us discover the new sustainable and innovative solutions, but I highly recommend it!
Darin is a world-renowned wellness expert, particularly expert in superfoods. He studied Moringa and he claims that Moringa contains 7 times more vitamin C than an orange, 4 times more calcium and 2 times more protein than milk, 4 times more vitamin A than carrot and 3 times more potassium than bananas!
Anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic, it promotes cleansing of the body and prevents anemia.
An asset for our health, that is for sure, but also for our beauty!
Moringa prevents damages caused by free radical, firms the skin, reduces wrinkles and blemishes.
Loaded in vitamin C it boosts the production of collagen and the renewal of cells.
It also helps flushing toxins from the blood hence a clearer and healthier skin.
I started consuming Moringa powder about a month ago (it's brand new!) by adding a teaspoon to my fresh juice in the morning or just in a glass of water.
You can also use it as a beauty product, especially as a mask that will help detoxify your skin, tighten the pores and brighten your complexion.
Here is a little DIY recipe easy to make at home:
- 1 tbs of moringa powder
-1 tbs of aloe vera gel (or honey)
-1 tsp of rose floral water
- Mix the ingredients together in a bowl,
- Apply to cleansed skin (I recommend using a brush if you have one, it makes the application easier),
- Leave on for 10-15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water.
